Erika Iris Simmons

Erika Iris Simmons in a portrait artist who uses unique material to create those portraits. She is a self taught artist with a degree in Russian from Washington University. She was involved in the music video for Bruno Mars' "Just the Way You Are" in which her art is included in a sort of stop motion portraiture. She works with various materials but most recently is using tapes and film to create these portraits.
I really enjoy portraiture, and i find it very interesting in the way that she creates her work. She has such detail and it's so easy to recognize the figure in her art with such an odd material.

I decided to just talk about all of her images at once, seeing as they are all so similar. I like the fact that she includes the tapes and reels in her art and not just the film itself. I feel like that element adds more interest to the piece. I also like that she doesn't add color to it and it's all basically line work.
